Sorry, about the delay in news about Fitget. I’ve been busy with work and have gotten pretty distracted from the project. Not to worry though, I’m not planning to discontinue development of Fitget. Unfortunately I can’t promise deadlines right now for Fitget updates, but I will try to discuss Fitget news more frequently. As of this moment Fitget is undergoing a pretty major rewrite. The interface is changing to allow for more of the features I had originally wanted to include in the program, and to punch things up a bit. Again thank you to everyone who continues to use Fitget.

Fitget v1.0.1 Released

The latest version of Fitget now allows you to get results using the metric system as well as the imperial (US) system of measurement. The settings screen has been redesigned as well in preparation for some visual changes which will be occurring in the next update.

Fitget v1.0.2 is the next planned minor update. It will contain new visuals as well as help & instructions. In this update I would also like to introduce a new feature: A daily calorie meter. To monitor your calorie intake on a daily basis. More information on this update will become available over the next couple of weeks.

I’ve been working on some improvements for Fitget users.

Version 1.0.1 is an update that I intend to submit for review in a matter of days. It contains an update allowing users to enjoy the same program using the metric system.

Version 1.1 is a planned update that is still in the works. It will feature improvements in the visuals of the program as well as these additional features:

Track Weight & Body Fat Percentage (Results will be stored for a useful period of time)
Track Calorie Intake/Usage (Results will be stored for a useful period of time)
Calculate Body Fat Percentage (Result will be an estimate based on statistical models)
Tracking Results Will Be Graphed
Redesigned Interface & Help System

I had planned to include tracking for multiple users in version 1.1, however that will not be included at this time. It is still a planned feature however and will be in the program eventually.

iPhone Game News

I have finally settled on a genre for my first iPhone game. It will be a puzzle game. I also decided that this first game will most likely debut at a $0.99 price. I intend to design it in such a way that it can be updated with enough frequency to keep customers happy. I have also finished my first utility application for the iPhone which I also intend to sell at the price of $0.99. I hold the hope that a few folks will find it useful and informative. I plan to include more details about the application once it has been approved and released on the iTunes App Store. Until then I will continue to work on the puzzle game.

A Journey Into Game Development For iPhone

I come from a background in developing productivity applications on Microsoft’s Windows Platform with some experience with OpenGL, Direct X, Ogre (a graphics engine), and C++, C#, as well as Java way back when. So it is painfully obvious that this sort of thing is fairly new to me. I have been playing around with the iPhone SDK for sometime now, mostly writing ports of my Windows Mobile applications, and I am feeling comfortable with it. Objective-C is actually fairly fun to use, and I have had little trouble learning it so far. I’ve played around with game development on Windows before, but I never finished a project. So I have set a goal to write a small game for the iPhone this go around. We will see how it goes. I haven’t yet settled on what this first game will be. I want it to be extremely simple, because I am both new to Objective-C development and because I want to be able to finish this project.

A few things I do know are

The project will use 2D graphics
I will implement swipes, pinches, and the like as controls
It will be single player
I will sell it (on the cheap, likely under $3 dollars)

Not much to go on, but I have not really put much thought into what sort of game I will be writing. I’d prefer not to go the route of puzzle or card games, as I am sure that those particular categories will be saturated. Perhaps a top down view action game. We will see. Until next time.
